“The Film Industry” is an industry that has been proven to promote economic development, education and creativity. Opportunities in skilled trades, catering, hospitality, management, arts and entertainment support companies, are some businesses that are inside a radius of the production budgets and hiring circles.
The industry promotes a growth in the culture of the region. The industry will reach far and wide to benefit our local economy and community enrichment, and will do this by directly creating and promoting a healthy, vibrant environment that leads to an economic impact and employment opportunity in the area.
“Ohio has a variety of close geographic locations ranging from a serene countryside to a downtown cityscape, no more than a few hours’ drive apart. Finally, with costs far below traditional filming sites like Los Angeles or New York City, shooting in Ohio offers film studios a larger return for their investment.” - Cleveland State University.

Our Project has outlined the steps we need to take to transform the Youngstown area into a film town, such as in Pittsburgh and Cleveland and the first step is the creation of the Youngstown Regional Film Commission. We will build out the commission to be a welcoming mat for productions and a source of support for production wants and needs when they do come to town. The Project is set to build the infrastructure needed to introduce our region to the entertainment industry, as a location to be used as the next backdrop for any film, television series, documentary or reality shows!-
